WALKING From the front door you can enjoy a delightful walk along the banks of the river Allen - 200 acres of hill and river wooded sceneryGuides for local walks in association with Allendale Caravan Park. Follow well marked paths to the top of the Pennines and delight in the wild flowers and wildlife including red squirrels, deer, peregrine falcons, saxifrage and orchids. 

CYCLING Quiet country lanes and excellent off road cycling make this heaven for pedallers of all ages. Guides about four circular loops from from Allendale Town, one of which links to the Sustrans Sea to Sea C2C cycle Route. The route runs close by from Whitehaven to Sunderland

GOLF Just three miles away is the local  9-hole course. The International course at Slaley is 30 minutes away by car.

RIDING There are many bridlewayscountry lanes and quiet lanes for you to explore. The Sinderhope Trekking Centre is situated three miles south of Allendale towards Allenheads and signposted from Sinderhope.

FISHING Fifty metres away from the door is the West Allen river where you can sometimes see salmon leaping. Game fishing can be enjoyed at Langley Pond, 4 miles away. Fourteen acre lake stocked weekly with rainbow trout.         

GARDENING Four miles away is The Station Garden - a restored Victorian railway station in a woodland garden in Langley. Dilston Physic Garden near Hexham specialises in reseacrh into plant medicines. Specialist nurseries closeby include Chesters Walled Garden with the National Thyme Collection. Hartside Nursery is well known for its alpine ferns and rock gardens. Further afield are National Trust sites of Cragside, Wallington Hall and Holy Island.
